Killing things is not difficult per se, but staying alive while hordes of enemies try to stop you, while also jumping over obstacles and traps is no easy task. Thus, the emphasis is on action and exploration, not to mention the retro graphics and the snappy controls.Īs for the difficulty level, it's certainly up there, but it's quite manageable if you have a bit of experience with platformers. In case you are not familiar with Momodora, the gameplay is a combination of Metroid and Castlevania, a so-called Metroidvania hybrid. This episode focuses more on various kinds of monsters and mutants, so your job is a lot harder than usual. Hence, it's all about jumping, defeating enemies and exploring a colorful world full of interesting things to admire. It brings a new world and a few new ideas to the table, but the underlying mechanics should be familiar to the fans of the series.
